Why Wedding Blogs Suck, and How I Would Avoid It

A quick Google for wedding blogs brings up over 475 million results.  Let that sink in for a minute. that’s more than the entire population of the United States, and granted, it’s not like each result equals a wedding blog, but I think we can all agree that there’s a lot of them.  There are as many different kinds of wedding blogs as there are weddings, basically meaning they’re infinite, and regardless of what kind of wedding you want to have, you’ll find a blog that caters to you. Funny thing is, even though...

Twilight Sparkle is Best Bridezilla

I am an unabashed fan of My Little Pony. I could go on for ages about all the reasons why I love it, but this isn’t the place to do so. For those who care, Spoilers lie ahead, for those that are really confused, hang in there, this will all come back around to weddings and make sense, I swear. So, the season 3 finale was on this weekend. Just like every weekend I can, I was curled up on the couch watching TV, threatening dismemberment to anyone who would dare disturb my 22 minutes of solitude. Now, what was really controversial about...

You’ve probably done more than you think

You’ve probably done more than you think

A big part of what I do is consult based.  I have clients who can’t afford my day of or wedding planning packages, but they feel so lost, with no sense of direction, and they need something, anything to kick start them.  They see all the lists of all the things that need to be done, the options they have to choose from, and they are completely and totally convinced that they don’t have a clue.  Being desperate, they call me, often in tears, because they have no idea what they’re doing, and emphasize that they have no clue...

Wedding Relaxation Commandments

subtitle:  Ang wanted to post memes & gifs. I’m a pretty flexible, laid back kind of person.  This is obscenely helpful when my clients are pretty stressed, I’m like a living breathing chill pill.  And while I LOVE helping my clients relax and enjoy this whole process, unfortunately I haven’t been hired by the entire universe, and I have some tips that help make the planning process somewhat less chaotic. 1. Your Life is NOT About the Wedding It’s not.  Your relationship with your partner, family, friends,...

Pulling the Trigger

If you’ve poked around my site very much, you’ll see I very adamantly insist you do NOT need a planner.  Because you don’t.  I have a real issue with the scare tactics many wedding industry pros use to say “OMG if you don’t hire me, your wedding will end in epic disaster, and you’ll never forgive yourself.”  But, I’m all about authenticity, and I’m going to be honest with you.  Sometimes that’s exactly what happens.  Not going to lie, it scares the crap out of me.  To know the...

A most likely controversial post on tipping

I have a soft spot in my heart for those in the service industry, even before I became a part of it.  As a result I always tip REALLY well, and I’m pretty forgiving of people as a whole.  As in, the waitress would have to wipe her butt with my steak in front of me in order to affect her tip.  So when clients ask me about tipping, my advice is pretty short.  “If you think they deserve more than you paid them, give them a tip.” I posted that on Twitter and was kind of taken aback at people begging me to elaborate.  Keep in...

I’m a geek, but I have no game.

I had a long discussion with a client who’s really into gaming the other day, about what a geek/nerd I am.  You name your trope, that’s me.  If there was any doubt, here’s a couple pics of me, and I pretty much looked like this up until highschool.   I wore a business suit for my class pictures, and was the token geek the cool kids kept around for crib sheets, test answers, and to buy them things at the snack bar.  I got braces when I was 18 and wore them until I was 22, headgear included.  I’ve always been...

Throwing monies at Moxie & Oliver

Trying out something new here.  I troll the internet more than is probably healthy and as a result I find cool stuff.  Usually I end up bookmarking it, and the good stuff I’ll visit every once in awhile to drool a little, or *gasp* actually BUY something from them.  I thought it would only be fair to share these with you so you can drool over them too.  Now far be it from me to contribute to the already consumerist wedding culture, but some of the things I find will be awesome for adding wedding details, will make a killer gift, OR...

Tips on remotely planning a wedding

Yeah, I know, I should probably work on the Wedding Primer series, or maybe finish editing the pile of interviews I have waiting for me.  But no, the muse has spoken and she has spoken through my analytics, so I must write! I make it a habit of going through my site analytics (obsessing about them really) to see what brings people here.  Well, one person got here by searching for “planning a wedding remotely”.  Since some of my keywords are “remote” and “wedding” well they came to my site.  And I had...

My thoughts on the elusive Bridezilla

It’s almost impossible to plan a wedding, attend a wedding, mention the word “wedding” without someone bringing up Bridezillas.  For those who haven’t come across the term yet, it’s a mash up of Bride and Godzilla, meaning a rampaging destructive monster of a bride.  They’ve made TV shows about it, and featured it in films. Many brides live in fear of becoming a Bridezilla.  They do everything in their power to be as rational and compliant as possible.  They don’t want to make waves because they...
